To us, the human family is one, consisting of a richness of differences between people. Transforming into a community implies creating the conditions for all people to have a sense of belonging, a place where they can contribute and be seen. Diversity is a necessary and powerful characteristic of a community. When diverse people learn to come together and work as one, this community becomes creative, innovative, and resilient.

The body is a community made up of its innumerable cells or inhabitants.

There are numerous examples of a company that is not able to harness diversity in a productive way. Think for example at tendencies of superiority, bullying, and unacceptable behaviour at work. Challenges that certain people may experience because of their race, gender, background or religion. The uniformity of leadership teams or people in authority.
Inherent to community building is the breaking down of prejudices and structural injustices within the overall understanding of oneness of people. When people work together on a common goal, their attitudes and beliefs about other people start to change. Tendencies of division, separation, or advancement of a single group.
