Our common future: citizens take responsibility in the south of The Netherlands

June 25, 2024

How do we keep Schouwen-Duiveland prosperous for current and future generations? That is the question that +75 residents of Schouwen-Duiveland worked on for 2.5 days in the Village Hall of Noordwelle, on June 26 and 27, on November 3, 2023. Many meetings followed later, both in small action groups. as well as for the growing group of residents and entrepreneurs.

Together they represent 9 perspectives that, according to the liaison and planning group, were necessary to investigate and answer this question together:

• Food
• Living environment
• Recreation
• Culture & heritage
• Ecological boundaries
• Learning & development
• Social basis & elderly people
• Young people
• Entrepreneurs (other than recreation and food)

A platform has been developed (wijschouwenduiveland.nl). On this platform you can find all information about the progress of the movement and about the common ground that has been discovered, as a basis for meaningful action, in surprising coalitions. It is a movement aimed at taking responsibility together and taking action. Actions, people and impact become increasingly visible through the online platform.

The platform was launched in June 2024 and will continue to come to life in the coming years. Fueled by a growing group of people who feel involved and want to take action together.
